When we first started making wristwatches back in 2013 we sought inspiration from one of our favourite styles of antique watch – the trench watch. As restorers, we’ve always loved the pebble-like form of these early wristwatches and they continue to be among our favourites. We felt it fitting that this, the last bespoke watch we’ll be making, has been created true to the style we started out in and one that has so much historical significance to our craft.
To give this iconic design a 21st century twist, we gave the 34mm diameter case Breguet-style lugs and the new owner selected the beautiful 18ct rose gold stitched strap in midnight blue leather made by in London by Jean Rousseau. The dial has been traditionally rose engine turned and flame whitened, while the movement has been embellished with bespoke sentimental hummingbird engraving by Sam Faraway.
The presentation case, crafted from rare 3,000-year-old bog oak, has a secret hidden drawer containing its build book which documents the creative process. As our last completely bespoke build it’s been a wonderful experience returning to how our journey started.
